Swedish Massage is the manipulation of soft tissue for therapeutic purposes. It uses a firm but gentle pressure to improve the circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, improve flexibility and create relaxation.
Massage oil is often used. There are five different movements involved in this massage - long gliding strokes, kneading of individual muscles, friction, hacking/tapping and vibration, which manipulates the soft tissues of the body, such as the skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments. It has a healing, calming and preventative effect on the body.
